Heather Pimm
Heather lives in Devon – the birthplace of all of Ronald Speirs’ brothers and sisters – and first became interested in his life after watching the Band of Brothers TV series and reading the book behind it.
Heather was intrigued by the controversial yet heroic character of Speirs, but was surprised to find very little written or known about him. Her added interest in the social impact the large numbers of American servicemen had on England during WWII, led her to find out more and she became determined to create a lasting factual record of his life and actions.
Heather is the widow of a local family doctor who was also interested in English and French military history. She has three horses and takes part in dressage competitions in her spare time away from her job at a telecoms company.
Scott Crombie
Scott Crombie is very proud of the accomplishments of his great uncle, Ronald Speirs and his love of genealogy gives him an extensive knowledge of his family tree.
The Crombie family lived next door to the Speirs family when Ronald was a child and Scott says, “My great grandparents had also recently moved into the neighbourhood arriving in Boston on the SS Samaria in July 1923. The families became good friends, coming from the same area of Glasgow, Scotland. In fact, my grandfather and one of Ronald’s sisters would later marry.”
In his free time Scott enjoys pursuing his interest in genealogy, World War II history, woodworking and coaching youth sports. He resides with his fiancée and his daughter in Massachusetts where he works for a local family farm.
